Weekend in the UK

On Friday 17.2. had a busy day in the office, all day meetings. In the evening, just when I was toasting my pine cerns for my salad, got a call from Jessica, a Swedish colleague from Vertu, inviting me to join her and her boyfriend for dinner in St.Margareth´s. She is the one who showed me around here at the very beginning and I have felt so quilty not calling her to meet up since. So I stopped cooking my dinner, programmed my TomTom with the restaurant address (Nosh) and drove off. I was a very nice dinner and both Jessica and Andy seemed very nice and witty. Really enjoyed myself and hope to see more of them in the future.

On Saturday I came to think of a shopping center lead given to me sometime ago by a lady working in our HR; the www.bicestervillage.com, close to Oxford. I called couple of colleagues to see if they would like to join me and then went off with Maarit, a lovely girl who also just moved here. Again, this GPS device, TomTom, is really prooving to be my best friend! I just put in Maarit´s address in Woking and there I was, driving in the famous M25 circular road on my own (okey, with TomTom...) and found her, and Bicester Village, just like that. It is absolutel great!! I actually decided to call it PamPam as I´ve chosen a female voice on it, you can check more here: www.tomtom.com. Bicester Village was ok but not really my cup of tea; close to 100 luxury brand factory outlets (a bit like Las Rosas Village in Majadahonda, for those who know it :) You have you Versace, Dior, Diesel etc. but to be honest, you can tell that they are selling items that didn´t make it in the normal retail... bit of a let down. But now we know.

We then decided to pop into Oxford as we were close by. It seemed like a lovely place, loads of students (surprise!), bicycles and beatifull old buildings. It was just so cold and freezing... so decided to come back some warm, sunny, summers day! Below coupld pix from Oxford: me and Maarit on the high street and some of the bikes:

On our way back, we decided to continue our adventures and drive to Guilford for a movie. We ended up seeing Casanova and must say it was the worst movie I have seen for a long time. Nothing really worked in it! Well, except perhaps for the staging... and the scene where the fat guy finds his true love... http://casanova.movies.go.com/main.html

Another shock in Guildford was the young people going out and wearing almost nothing! Were almost frozen to death and these skimpy little things were running around in their spagetti tops and mini-mini skirts with no tights. Amazing.

On Sunday I went, with PamPam again, to see Kirsi, an old friend I have not seen for years. I know her from Salo, where she left about 7 years ago with a Brittish fellow and now has 3 kids and busy life in Blackwater. She took me to couple of absolutely fantastic antigue shops around Farnham (check out e.g. www.packhouse.com); my ideal Sunday afternoon! I ended up buying a chest for my living room but otherwise I was a good girl. Here´s me and Kirsi and shot of one of the shops - lovely place:

Sunday night got a bit of a disappointing ending as I found myself throwing up at midnight; welcome oksennustauti :( So I stayed home for Monday and Tuesday, with fever and trying carefully to eat something that would not affect the almighty stomach... It´s now Tuesday evening and I´m feeling a bit better now. Will try to eat again and let´s see what happens!

Take care and speak to you soon!
All my love,
Anne

Hi'ya!

Get well soon! So you finally found some antique shops, good for you!

I was in Mari's yesterday for Tupperit kutsu! The kids were wonderful, Konu's hair keep growing looong, Minja was already going full speed (konttausta!) and Milla wanted to cuddle with kummitäti (me!) during the esittely. Bless her!

Hello darling. Now that you can drive around using your pam pam, your mention of Guildford made me remind you that you must catch up with my best friend from school, Amanda - who you met in Madrid. They live in Surrey in a place called West Clandon which is very near Guildford.
I will send you an email with her contacts. Love/Masha
