Winter break at Levi, Lapland

Last week of March -06.

Nights out and a bit of skiing too. In the Finnish Lapland, in a village called Levi. It´s apparently the wildest skiing resort in Lapland; everyone´s married but nobody cares. See more at www.levi.fi

It was me and 3 other fun loving girls. 80% of the Levi population were men; we called it the "Härkäviikot", translates into something like "The week of the oxes". Lucky us :)

Slogan of the week: Tänä iltana ei tule pakkeja, listen the track here: http://www.marttivainaa.com/mp3/pelimies_nayte.mp3
and here the inspiring lyrics:

Actually we were living a very regular life for a week. Here is goes:

1) Wake up late. Take couple of hours to get ready for the day.

2) Go to the slopes (well, on 3 days...)

3) Find your way to the slope bar Tuikku for a Minttukaakao (hot chocolate with Mint liqueur), Hauli Bros (a band) and nail hammering contest. If not able, or interested, skiing, take a taxi to Tuikku (not me, of course!)

The Hauli Bros (www.haulibros.com)

At Tuikku

Päivi, Kuusisto, Teppo, Niko, Anne, Sari

4) Find your way back to starting point and dance on tables in the Vinkkari aprés-ski. More Minttukaakaos.

5) On your way "home", stop by at Panimo, the local village pub.

Anne and Atte at Panimo

6) Go to the chalet, take a nap, go to sauna and get ready for the evening (imagine hair dryers and powder puffs...).

7) Stop by at Panimo for a shot or two (preferrably Terva snapsis).

Back at Panimo

8) Dance the nigth away either in Hullu Poro Areena or Levi Hotel (and spice up with a little bit of karaoke and Paula Koivuniemi, or Lemmen Jättiläiset). www.hulluporo.fi

9) Surprise yourself with innovative after party solutions (I´ll save you from the nasty details as they involve e.g. a guest star drinking Jäger Meister through his nose... something I hope to be able to forget at some point in my life).

10) Find "home" in the morning.

Repeat the above pretty much for 6 days.

Additional: if time allowes, enjoy a nice dinner (reindeer stew recommended, if you don´t mind a kilo of butter with it, yam!!)

Valkea Vaadin and the best Poron Käristys ever, with some colleagues

Conclusions:
- we survided it!
- I got new friends
- quite enjoyed skiing too
- we decided to come back next year!!!

Hope you had a good one too!

You look very well accompanied there! Any follow up to come?

Do write more often, or call sometime. I realised a bit too late that I had committed a dreadful sin and forgotten your birthday. Sorry darling.

Love/Masha
